Heydi Correa-Encarnación joined SVC, now HMA Medicaid Market Solutions (HMA MMS), from a background in implementing health prevention and promotion initiatives for underserved Latino communities across the state of Indiana, particularly through state healthcare providers and grassroots organizations. Ms. Correa-Encarnación has worked as an HIV health educator for IU Health Positive Link in Bloomington, Indiana and most recently joined the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute’s Graduate Policy Fellowship in Washington, D.C., where she served as a health graduate fellow.
Through this experience, Ms. Correa-Encarnación worked in close collaboration with the U.S. House of Representatives as well as the American Public Health Association in advancing federal legislation, inclusive healthcare policies and national advocacy efforts.
Ms. Correa-Encarnación graduated as a 21st Century Scholar from Indiana University in 2010 with a bachelor’s degree in sociology and Spanish, with minors in Latino studies and public health. She earned her Master of Public Health in behavioral, social and community health from the Indiana University School of Public Health.
